Today wasn’t as good as I had hoped…

Let me say 2 words….LIFE CEREAL. Roni posted about it the other night. So the next day, I bought a box. I opened the box, poured me out a serving, then took it up stairs to eat it while I worked as part of my afternoon snack. But that one serving wasn’t enough, so I went back downstairs and grabbed the box, as if I was on autopilot. Why?!?!? I wasn’t even hungry. Why do we eat when we aren’t hungry?? I had lunch today, but I am not sure I was that hungry for it, but I ate it anyway. I was so full from my run and my protein shake, but it’s like I was in the kitchen so I had to eat. I fixed my son’s lunch and had to eat. What’s with that!??!?! I do feel a little better today. I made a Skinny Turkey Pot Pie for dinner that I found somewhere on here (forgot where, sorry!) and it was AWESOME!!! I got in TONS of water today. It’s like the more I drink, the more I want it. And it got really hot here today so I think that contributed to it as well. I hope my run tomorrow morning is a lot better than today’s. If I have a loss this week, I will be surprised. I’ll be happy to maintain and NOT gain. I just hope so. So here’s my journal for today:

protein shake--5

BLTs of son’s lunch--1
leftover chicken quesidilla--5
Baked beans--4
Fiber 1 bar--2

Skinny Turkey Pot Pie (5), asparagus (0), corn (1)--6

Life cereal incident--5

4 mile walk/run (50 minutes)--+5

Total Points --23

SO it all evened out, but I wasn’t planning on eating those activity points. Tomorrow will be better since I have leftovers for lunch. I do so much better when I have leftovers for lunch.
Tomorrow will be better. I hope. It has to be! At least I am here posting and holding myself accountable. That’s what this is all about. Tomorrow WILL be better!!! Hold me to it. ;)

UGH…it’s Monday

And I am soooo glad, but I feel like crud. After eating less than stellar for the past 3 days, I am a bit sluggish. I did get out and run this morning (4 miles) in preparation for Saturday, but I could really tell I hadn’t eaten the greatest this weekend. I was just slow and sluggish but I kept on and finished it. Today is back to being strictly OP. I want another 10 pounds off by Father’s Day and then another 5 by mid July. I think those are reasonable goals and if I can get more off, then I am fine with that. But in order to reach my goals, I need to be more strict OP than I’ve been the last week or so.

So far today I’ve had a protein shake (5 points) and a taste of my son’s lunch (1 point). I will be OP today if it kills me! I’ve already had 64 ounces of water. Not sure what is for lunch yet, but dinner will be turkey pot pie with a side of veggies. The Schwan man is due today and I need some asparagus and other veggies. I can’t wait to have my garden this year and have my own fresh veggies!

I’ll be back later with my menu. Have a great afternoon!!

My baby turned 3 today!

I can’t believe he is 3. These last 3 years have been the best, most fun, and the fastest years of my life. I can’t wait to see what the future holds! He is definitely the light of my life and I love being his mom…he makes everything worth it and makes life grand.

So today we had his party. I actually did fairly well. I was so busy, I didn’t have time to eat a whole lot. I got up this morning and ran 4 miles (pats self on back!) then came back home and went non stop until about 5, when I FINALLY got to sit down. It was a great party and a great day for a great kid.

After the party, me, my mom, my grandma (mom’s mom), and my baby sister went shopping. I bought size 12 shorts. ALL of them fit. They are a little snug around the waist, but I ate more today than I normally do (at least I think I did) so by next week, they will probably fit perfectly. AND, I found this dress….oh my it is awesome. I LOVE it. I will have to look for a picture on the net and see if I can find it. It’s awesome. Anyway, I’ve lost 10# and it looks good, so another 5 and it will be perfect. I love it. I hope to wear it to my 10 year class reunion in July (I think!) and maybe out with my hubby for our anniversary. It is black and white and I am going to put red jewelry and shoes with it. The hubby says I never wear “girly” stuff like that anymore (b/c it’s not my thing) but he likes it and I think he will like this dress. I’m so excited about it!

After my cake decorating and cookie making yesterday, I realized, I never ate anything. I drank a protein shake for breakfast but never had lunch. I did dip into some cookie dough, but not nearly what I would have in the past. Then we had to take the toddler to get his hair cut and we went out for dinner…then I realized I have never eaten anything all day. So I splurged and got chicken nachos at the Mexican restaurant. (I’ve blogged enough about Mexican that you all should know we LOVE Mexican!!!) I am going to try to run at some point tomorrow, but my mom wants to go shopping (AGAIN!) tomorrow so it may have to be in the evening after she leaves. I am NOT setting an alarm tomorrow, I am tired.

One good thing…my grandma is going to stay with us this week so I am going to make it a point to run Monday and Tuesday mornings once it gets daylight b/c she’ll be here with the toddler. I definitely love running in the morning a lot better than later on in the day. Then Wednesday I have to go into work, but I will probably try to go Thursday morning and then that will be it until the half marathon on Saturday. I’m getting excited and nervous at the same time. This time next week it will all be over….

I’ve rambled enough for tonight. My baby will officially be 3 in about 15 minutes (he was born at 10:48 pm). I’m going to go watch him sleep for a little bit. Good night!

WI day, cake decorating, and chocolate chip cookies

I was down .9 this morning. YAY!!! BUT….couldn’t my body have given me that extra .1 to make it an even pound?!?! Oh well, maybe it will give up more next week. So that makes my total loss 9.8 and my weight today 165.7. My next mini goal was supposed to be 165. But 165.7 is a little high for me, so I would like to try to lose 1.2 next week to make it nice and even.

This afternoon I am decorating the cake for my son’s party tomorrow. I don’t have a problem eating the icing so that won’t be hard, but I am dreading it. I already have the cookies made for the party. I LOVE chocolate chip cookies…especially the dough right before you add the chocolate chips…that’s my favorite part. BUT I didn’t eat too much of that today. I really didn’t. I’m quite proud. Now, staying out of the fresh baked cookies will be the hardest part. I don’t plan on having but maybe one today, then tomorrow I will have a couple. I can’t believe my baby is going to be 3 tomorrow. Time has gone by soooo fast. It’s unreal. I’m off to decorate. Have a great day!!!

My pants are falling off

I realize this is a good thing, BUT the next size down is still a little tight!!! ARGH!!!!!!! The jeans I have on today were a little big on me even 10 pounds ago, but they are stretch and a month and a half ago I would have had to wait for them to stretch a little. But today, I put them on and they are bigger before they stretched out…so now that they are stretched they are falling off. Oh well. I can’t wait to NOT wear stretch jeans anymore. I really despise them. They give you a false sense of sizing, in my opinion. When I get to where I want to be, I will avoid stretch at all costs if I can.

We went out for dinner last night…unplanned. I ran errands all afternoon and was tired when I got home. I had 10 points left and the little one picked tacos for dinner…he was given a choice of cheeseburgers, tacos, or chicken (meaning Wendy’s or Woodfire Grill (a local favorite of ours), Mexican, or Chic-fil-a). I got a vegetarian plate with a cheese quesidilla, rice, and a cheese enchilada. I didn’t touch the enchilada, left some rice and only ate the quesidilla. So I think I did pretty good with the 10 points I had left. I didn’t leave there stuffed, so I felt pretty good. I sneaked a peek at the scale this morning and was down almost another pound. I really hope that sticks for tomorrow or maybe even drops a little bit more. I am heading out in a little bit to go grocery shopping then I have to get started on the cake for my son’s birthday party. Have a great day everyone!!

Nighttime munchies...

I realized last night that I don’t have a problem with night-time munchies. This is a good thing. Why don’t I have a problem? B/c most people who munch at night watch TV and I don’t (LOVE TiVo!) Once we eat dinner, I am either outside or upstairs–totally away from the kitchen and the temptation. Last night the hubby sat down to watch his TiVo’d episode of 24 (our favorite show!) and I noticed the pantry doors were open on one up my trips up and down the stairs. That’s when I realized, I don’t have this problem anymore. I used to before my son was born. Once he was born, I quit watching TV at night and spent my evenings with him. It’s a good habit I have formed and I like it! So this was a brag, but I really am proud of myself for that.

Yesterday was another good day on plan. I don’t think I got in all my veggies, but I did get in my water and milk. I went 2 points over for the day, but I am not going to sweat it. The hubby brought a steak home to throw on the grill and we split it. It was a huge portion and I didn’t eat very much of it so I have a nice lunch for today. I have been eating too much red meat this week. I hope that doesn’t affect my weigh in this week. I think tonight I will make shrimp for dinner. We’ll see. Today is my last day to work for the week. My son’s birthday is Saturday so I am taking off to get ready for that. I have worked all my hours in 2-12 hour days and 2 shorter days…today being the shortest of all. Thank god…I am tired!!!!!!

I haven’t posted my menu, but I have been keeping track and journaling, I am just too tired and lazy to copy and paste it. These 12 hour days are killing me. I am glad they are done!!! Have a great day!!

It pays to journal

Yesterday was really good, but really long. I worked 12 hours. Then we grilled for dinner. I made up burgers and added some spices to them and they were really good. And I have learned that I don’t have to have cheese on my burgers every time. They are pretty good without cheese on them. I had kept track of my points all day but when we were eating I was hungry so I ate another burger (this time with cheese) and didn’t even think about it. I was dreading to write all of it down, but when I did, I realized I had only gone 1 point over for the day. So, see journaling really does pay off. I thought for sure I had blown the day, but it wasn’t bad at all. We also grilled some corn on the cob (from Schwan’s) and some portabello mushrooms. I love to grill!!! B/c that means the mess is on the grill…not in the kitchen.

I had one of my hubby’s protein shakes for breakfast yesterday and today. Both at around 0730. Yesterday, I didn’t even get hungry until almost 1 and I ate lunch around 1:3o. That’s awesome for me. I love these shakes b/c they are very filling and I get in a milk requirement. Then yesterday afternoon I had a smoothie (recipe below) and got in another milk serving, so I got in all my milk, veggies, and water yesterday. GO ME!!

Smoothie recipe:
8 ounces skim milk
bowl of frozen strawberries (about 1 point worth)
3/4 to 1 cup of splenda
I microwave the frozen strawberries for a little bit (about a minute) then add all to the blender. I pour in the milk first, add the splenda, then the strawberries the puree it all for a minute or so. SOOOO yummy and so refreshing. You get a milk serving and a fruit serving. I count it as 3 points.

I better get back to it…gotta eat lunch at some point. Have a great day! :)

What a weekend!

After my 10 mile walk/run on Saturday, I decided I wasn’t going to count points that day. I stayed in check and made pretty smart decisions and with my work out I am sure it all evened out.

Sunday was a snack fest. I was so sore from my walk on Saturday and I had to work. But the hubby and I didn’t have our son this weekend (thank you grandmas!!) so we got a lot done around here and a lot of errands run too. We don’t have any family that live near us, so we do everything without the luxury of having grandma or grandpa close by to watch the little one while we run around or go out for a quiet evening so when we get the chance to be alone, we jump on it. It’s nice and it helps us get a lot accomplished!

Today is back to tracking. I will write everything down and drink all of my water and maybe even get in some milk. Do you realize how hard it is to get in all your milk, veggies, and oil and still have a few points left for something you really want?? If I did that without some 0 point veggies, I wouldn’t have any points left for anything ‘fun’ and by fun I mean decent food choices (like the SBD wraps I like for lunch). It’s hard at only 22 points a day!!! Have a great day everyone. I will be back later on with my menu.

I just did 10 miles!!!!!!

I can’t believe I did it. I just can’t. I set out to do 10 miles this morning and I did. The first 5 were a piece of cake–so easy, but the last 5 were killer!!! But I did 10 today, and in 2 weeks I have to do 13.1. I have been slacking in my workouts but I am going to get back to them so when I do the half marathon in 2 weeks I am not dying at the end.

Yesterday was a looooong day in the car. I put 320 miles on it in one day. I got home so late and I was so tired when I got home. I did fairly well eating wise. Had Mexican for dinner and got veggie fajitas. They were pretty good!!

It is gorgeous here today so I am going to get outside (again!) and enjoy it!!! Have a great Saturday everyone!

So, I stayed the same this morning…

I was kind of disappointed. But considering last weekend and the fact that I’ve had 2+ pound losses for the last 3 weeks, I guess that is good. But I was really hoping for a loss. But like I said, last weekend was bad!!! I probably ate 2 weeks worth of flex points. Oh well, it’s a new week and I feel good. My “fat” jeans are getting loose again. Usually, I can wear them twice before they start loosening up, but by last night, they were falling off!! YAY!!! This morning, I am wearing a top I haven’t worn in a loooong time. And my jeans aren’t tight, they are actually a little loose. Probably by the time my son and I head out this morning, they will be really loose. I am hoping to stop by American Eagle this afternoon and try on a pair of their boyfriend jeans. The hubby and I are planning a date night next weekend and I want to look hot for him. I fixed my hair a different way today and I plan next weekend to give this a shot again with even more effort. :) It’s little things that help me feel better.

Yesterday’s eating was good. I was right at my points, but I did a lot of bites, licks, tastes this week so that may be why I didn’t have a loss too. I tried to overestimate the points for the day when I did the BLTs, but maybe I was off. I did make it to the gym last night. I didn’t want to go at all, but I was talking to my best friend in Colorado (well actually right now she is in Oklahoma City) superjayman and she told me to get up and go. I was so tired and I didn’t want to go, all I wanted to do was go to bed. But I went and did 30 minutes on the elliptical (3 miles!) so it was a pretty intense work out. I’m glad I went. I won’t get to the gym tonight as Fridays are our night to eat out and we usually run some errands or something. Tonight, we are going to the grocery store (woo–big family outing!) so I can stay home on Saturday. The hubby is going out of town for a bachelor party tomorrow and won’t be home until late on Sunday, so the toddler and I are going to chill and I plan to make some experiements in the kitchen. Should be fun!!!

I am out of here for now. I will check back later on if I can! Have a great day!!! :)

I love the grill!

We FINALLY got a new grill. A severe wind storm came through last summer and ours died after that so I’ve been without for a looooooong time. We got a new one over the weekend and fired it up today. Nothing tastes better, IMO, than a burger on the grill. YUM!

Even though I don’t feel well today, I am on target to get in my 150 ounces of water before I go to bed. YIPPEE!

I have a dilemma on my hands. Next weekend…Easter. My mom is wanting to cook a big meal. Here’s the problem–I don’t want her to. She wants to make a ham and scallopped potatoes. I’m talking the processed in the box scalloped potatoes. Yuck! Everything she makes comes out of a box, with the exception of the main course–usually a meat of some kind. I love my mom to death, but going to visit her is always detrimental to my weight loss efforts. I did really good when I was there 2 weeks ago, but I didn’t eat any meals at her house…they were either out or I had Subway. I don’t want to be mean to her and squash her thoughts, but I just don’t want to eat the processed crud everyone else likes–yes I am in the minority in my family when it comes to healthy eating and exercise. I am the only one with a weight problem, but I am probably the healthiest b/c I do drink water and exercise and I try to watch the food that goes in my mouth. I’ll figure something out….eventually.

Here is my menu from today…

Apple Pie Oatmeal--4
strawberries and a banana with a little fat free cool whip--2
WW orange juice--1

Steak Salad–made with left over steak from Logan’s roadhouse--5
Fiber One Chewy Bar--3

Burger on the grill with English muffin for a bun and NO CHEESE!--5
LOTS of grilled veggies (0 points) and Baked Beans--3

Total--23
23 point allowed/23 points used. No Flex Points left to use.

Veggies on the grill:

I do this 1 of 2 ways:

1) cut up some of your favorite veggies–tonight I used yellow squash, onion, green pepper, tomatoes, and mushrooms–and put them on skewers on place on the grill. Gives a nice crunch when they are done and yummy!

OR

2) cut up your vegetables, get some foil out and spray it with Pam, dump in your veggies, spray them with Pam, then add some spices–my favorites are garlic powder and onion powder. Fold the foil over to make a little packet and place on the grill. This way the veggies come out kinda mushy and chewy but still delicious. This is my favorite way to cook veggies in the summer.

I’m off of here for now. I have to actually go into work tomorrow so I better hit the hay. It will be a long day.
